What is LinkedIn Sync?

Dex can now seamlessly integrate with LinkedIn. After connecting your LinkedIn account:

• 🔨LinkedIn Connections will be added to Dex, and kept-up-to-date. We'll automatically update your contacts' title, picture, and more continually.

• 📧 We'll send you notifications when your LinkedIn Connections' titles change. When your connections start a new job it's the perfect opportunity to reach out.

LinkedIn Message Sync

With your LinkedIn account connected, you can see your last LinkedIn message for your contacts. See how this works in this two-minute video.

• Last Interaction is automatically updated with your latest LinkedIn conversation, making keep-in-touch reminders even more accurate and powerful.
• See the last message sent in the conversation, so you can remember context on what you last talked about.
• Open the relevant conversation with just one click, you can pick off where you left off.
• Filter and create views with the date of your last LinkedIn message so you can make sure you're staying in touch.

How to setup LinkedIn Sync

1. Sign up for Dex & get your account setup

2. In the top corner, click the '+' button, then click 'Import Contacts'

3. Click the row that says 'LinkedIn'

You will need to use your LinkedIn credentials to set up LinkedIn sync. Dex does not store or log your password.

Title Change Notifications

After setting up LinkedIn, you'll be able to see title changes on the main Today page. These look like this:

• By default, you'll receive emails about title changes, which you can turn off with notification settings.

• Title changes are shown in the 'Today' feed from most recent to least recent.

• If contact is archived, you generally won't get title change notifications for them.

[Alternative] Importing LinkedIn Connections with .CSV files

If for any reason you'd prefer not to establish a regular LinkedIn sync, you can also import a one-time selection from LinkedIn. This import is more limited due to restrictions on LinkedIn, and you can start by:

1. Open up your LinkedIn Settings here: https://www.linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/download-my-data

2. Click 'Get a Copy of your data' and check 'Connections' here:

After submitting your request, you should receive a download link to a .zip file with your LinkedIn connections. After downloading, extract the file and locate Connections.csv.

• Go to the Import page and click "CSV Import"

• Add the downloaded Connections.csv file and submit the file

  • Your contacts should import successfully!

Troubleshooting

• If you log in to your LinkedIn account through Dex and it just keeps looping when inputting the auth pin, you can fix this by disabling the 2FA of your LinkedIn account.

• Deleted contacts from LinkedIn Sync will get recreated with Dex's ongoing sync. You can stop this by archiving the contact.

• If LinkedIn Sync hasn't been completed for more than a couple of days, try disconnecting and reconnecting it through the Sync page.

• Dex Premium: LinkedIn Sync has a limit of 10,000 contacts you can sync. These 10,000 contacts will be taken from the most recent connections. The ongoing sync allows new connections to sync with Dex every 3-5 days.

• Old connections that aren't included in the 10,000 limit will remain in Dex but will no longer be automatically updated.

• If you are on the Basic plan, Linkedin Sync has a limit of 100 contacts it can pull from your account (starting from the most recent connections) and the rest will be pulled upon upgrade to Premium.

• If you're seeing a LinkedIn restriction error or hitting viewing limits, it's not because of Dex (since Dex doesn't view profiles for you). It's likely because you've visited too many profiles. LinkedIn sets these limits to prevent automated actions.
